from Christine and Matt Lawton

We would like all concerned to know that the 1st Paul Lawton Memorial Scholarship in Music and Theatre Performance was presented on Wednesday 21st February at St. Clair College.

Pat and John McLaughlin kindly represented us at this presentation. The recipient was in her graduating year at the College and is auditioning for the Shaw Festival at Niagara On The Lake, later this year. As we remember the Shaw Festival, it was purely the plays of George Bernard Shaw and therefore, initially, this surprised us somewhat as we were under the impression that this would have come under the category of drama. However, I have been assured that musical theatre is the real mainstay of the Festival and that she is definitely involved in the music aspect of it. The category that we have chosen for the Scholarship is Celtic Music and Folk Music PREFERABLY. Obviously we did not wish to exclude other music students if there was no application for that category.

We had arranged for a copy of the CD Great Stuff to be given to her and sent her a message of congratulations. Pat and John met her, talked to her about Paul and they tell us she is a lovely girl from Windsor.

We thought you might all like to know this.
Chris and Matt.
